Elder Haus I and II

Located in Bowling Green, Elder Haus I and II are owned by Wood Lane Residential Properties. Elder Haus I and II were built from grants from HUD (Housing and Urban Development) for 8 men and women who are 55 years old or older who have IO Waivers. The homes opened on November 7, 2006.

The building of these homes was in response to the aging population. Elder Haus is designed to meet the changing needs for people with disabilities who are aging. They provide support to people with dementia and other aging challenges. They live by the motto:
E is for Enrichment through Excellence
L is for Life enhancement in a Learning and Loving
    atmosphere
D is for Dedicated staff supporting Diverse lifestyles
E is for Empowering each other with Equal opportunity
R is for Respect for life
H is for Home
A is for Acceptance and preservation of Ability
U is for Uplifting, Understanding and Unity
S is for Sharing and creating memories through Social
    involvement

A wonderful common area that connects each home with winding sidewalks, is enclosed by a fence that was installed by a Boy Scout troop and includes a gazebo that is wheelchair accessible thanks to the wonderful donation of a family member. The men and women have a safe and appealing area to spend time in when the weather warms up.

Aging does not mean sitting sedentary. Every September, the men and women join the Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s Association. They raise money all year for this great cause.
